Ant: Footprints Through The Snow

Not my review. This one's by Rachel Queen . It's a gorgeous, gorgeous album.

"You are sitting alone. It is Sunday, and the one that you love is far away, and you haven't heard from them for what seems like months. Maybe they are gone for good this time. You are thumbing through old letters, and pictures and telling yourself "it will be ok soon". But somehow you can't believe it. Unleast not until you hear:

Because you know life will hurt you.
and in your dreams it is easier

sung by Ant the voice of the romantics and dreamers everywhere. And suddenly you are no longer alone.

"Footprints through the snow" is the first full length album from Ant (Anthony Harding) formerly of Hefner. The album surrounds you like the collection of letters on your bed. Snapshots of heartache, and days spent with the one you love drawn in soft acoustic tunes. You sit listening as songs slide from happiness to heartache and then back again engulfed in a happy melancholy.

"Spent too long walking" nearly has you crying. Bows glide effortlessly over violin strings, and Ant's voice almost trembles as he sings about moment of falling in love.

"We didn't move a muscle" comes on and you listen to the gentle picked guitar, butterflies dancing around your heart.

Well sitting in your room
That was the highlight of my life
And I know it didn't amount to much
And I know it wasn't right
But sitting in your room
That was the highlight of my life

And suddenly you are smiling again, because things might have changed but some feelings never die. "
